Flamingos of Cassedara

The natural beauty of the glorious migratory birds in the fictional plane of Cassedara remind you of the harmony that should have existed between man and it's environment, as was intended. Based on real life tragedies of animal hunting, poaching, wild life habitat encroachment and climate change, this poem questions the frozen soul of humanity.

Every spring, when nature opens her arms in the plains of Cassedara,

Hopes and flamingos fly in to visit the blossomed shower.

With that tangerine glow at the break of the dawn,

Kiss the coloured feathers, the tender leaves and the fauna.

Rapt and white, wild river freely raffles through the caves,

And in the straight-line down, a path for the guests it paves.

We have million butterflies hosting the immigrants of the sky,

Chirpings abuzz the day and it’s like days of cold are long by.

They span the length of this wilderness, their spontaneity;

Eavesdropping sparrows on the few Obituaries.

In a mournful scream and flutter of wings,

You hear gunshots and the bullet rings.

The plains reflect in the whispers, their grief;

When you know you have had springs, these years in brief.

The peaks have tears rolling down the slopes, but still the rills no more flow.

For little longer, a while, we haven’t had a single flamingo.

Craves their eye to praise the feathered girl,

And now mindlessly the butterflies swirl.

They say,” One day, when the clouds are clean,

When no child is hungry, no world is mean,

When winters end and lakes and souls don’t freeze,

Flamingos, would flow in with that fresh new breeze.”

The day when we aren’t humans, but wild beasts,

We’d again see the wind take its turn,

Old friends, wouldn’t anymore burn.

Comeback my flamingo, we never said Sayonara

But we wouldn’t have to, once you come back to Cassedara.
