Under The Lens today is : An Illusion of Escape.

Updated: Jun 7, 2020

" Written by an avid dreamer and classics inspired modern semi-confessional poet of age 17, An Illusion of Escape is a teenager's frivolous attempt to, as rightly claimed in the title, escape her real life.

A diluted attempt at structure and verse, the collection boasts of varied themes and styles of writing. Where she speaks of the in-defiant spirit of child laborers in The Moon and the Sun, she also speaks of nature's beauty in an imaginary place in the poem The Flamingoes of Cassedara. Where she paints pictures with words in Pastel, she confesses her pain of being a poet in The Black-hole.

With many love ballads, lyrical narrations and convoluted metaphors - it is an easy read on a chilly afternoon. And when all is said and done, one might even overlook the amateur and disposable aesthetic to writing. Not a defining piece of literary work, but a great self-entertaining escort; this book can be a good start. "

Hi! Forgive me for making you read a review written by me for my own book. Those were the toughest few adjectives I ever collected. I'm glad this part is over.

Welcome to UNDER THE LENS. Apparently, it's not so hard for me to comment upon works of fiction, created by other people. This section will be a repository of my critique on many books that I have read or will read; many movies, TV series or Web series that I have watched or will watch, and also a blog-space to comment upon real life phenomena, organisations and events, if and so they fall within my domain of observation, knowledge and inquiry.

Once again, the critique comes from the vantage point of an observer and consumer of fiction and fact; and not as an expert or academic in the known fields. I'm here to voice my opinions because we live in a world, where anybody can do that, for free and even when they'd think nobody is listening, somebody might just; and God knows about the consequences. So yeah, let's take a shot at it, shall we? Who knows, whom we might end up helping or offending?

This is probably, in the distant future, to be followed up my some video/audio content. Fingers crossed. Hope you find this space useful!
